Royals 2, Twins 1
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Alex Gordon hit a two-run homer in the ninth, winning it for the Royals and helping them avoid their first three-game skid since mid July. The Royals had been shut down by Ricky Nolasco, who scattered three hits in seven innings. But after going quietly in the eighth, the AL Central leaders broke through against Glen Perkins in the ninth. Alcides Escobar led off with a blooper to right, and Gordon followed by swatting the second pitch he saw over the rightfield wall for his 10th homer.
