KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Former Ray Wade Davis pitched six strong innings and Billy Butler homered for the Royals, who won for the fifth time in six games and improved to 19-5 since the All-Star break. Davis had not pitched since Aug. 2, returning to Florida to be with his family after the death of his stepbrother on Aug. 3. Kansas City moved four games back of the Rays for the second wild-card spot.
