The triathlon: 1.5-kilometer (0.9 miles) swim, 40-kilometer (24.8 miles) bike and 10-kilometer (6.2 miles) run.

About 4,000 entrants, including 70 professional triathletes, from 49 states and 17 countries compete for a $60,000 purse in the Olympic-distance event.

Meek & Mighty Triathlon: Shorter-distance race for ages 7-10 (swim 100 yards, bike 3.6 miles and run 0.5 miles) and ages 11-14 and novice adults (swim 200 yards, bike 5.6 miles and run 1 mile). It features 750 participants.

Youngest competitor: 6Oldest competitor: 90

11 a.m.: Meek & Mighty awards party at Vinoy Park

2 p.m.: Beginner/novice clinic at Straub Park

3 p.m.: USA Triathlon meeting at Straub Park

4-7 p.m.: Caribbean band

Sunday

4:45-7 a.m.: Transition area opens; body marking at Vinoy Park

6:45 a.m.: Start at Spa Beach

8:40 a.m.: First finisher expected

9:30 a.m.: Postrace party

12:30 p.m.: Awards presentation

2 p.m.: Course closes
