Saints unload on former assistant

NEW ORLEANS — Perhaps Saints coach Sean Payton was just being diplomatic when he called Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams a good coach and downplayed the significance of their first meeting since Payton fired Williams in 2011.

How else to explain why Payton looked so animated while the offense he designed unleashed a relentless onslaught — trick plays and all — on Williams' defense?

"He was fired up," safety Kenny Vaccaro said after New Orleans set a season high for points. "We all know why."
