PORTLAND, Ore. — The Rowdies must wait at least one more game to end their slide.

Portland forward Bright Dike scored in the 73rd minute and the Timbers held on for a 1-0 win over the Rowdies on Sunday night at PGE Park.

The Rowdies (5-5-3, 18 points) have lost four straight in USSF Division 2, scoring once in that span. They are fifth in the USL Conference and trail Austin by 12 points.

Portland (5-5-4, 19 points) climbed into fourth in the conference after entering the game with one win in nine previous matches.

The Timbers moved into position to score first, but forward Doug DeMartin's header went wide in the 10th minute.

The Rowdies, playing without injured striker Aaron Wheeler, nearly took the lead in the 18th minute off a free kick from Pascal Millien, but Yendry Diaz sent the ball over the crossbar.

Dike had two chances late in the first half but clanged both shots off the post.

Rowdies coach Paul Dalglish substituted Stanley Nyazamba, Drew Yates, Mozzi Gyorio and Aaron King in the second half to open up the offense. The best chance came in the 54th minute, when Kwame Adjeman-Pamboe had a shot hit off the post.
