2A-9 girls soccer: Tampa Prep proves more than ready for Indian Rocks Chr.

TAMPA — "We're ready for Tampa Prep."

That was the bold statement from Indian Rocks Christian coach Joe Raissi after the Golden Eagles' semifinal win over Bishop McLaughlin on Thursday.

But it turns out, the Terrapins were ready for IRC (10-7), winning the 2A-9 district title 8-0 on Friday night.

"The article really got the girls fired up for the game this morning. We hung it up in the locker room for some extra motivation," said Terrapins coach Cindy Schofield.

Hillsborough County's leading scorer, sophomore Colby Maffei, had a five-goal night.

Maffei, who was named to the U.S. Soccer Region III Olympic Developmental Program just last week, picked up a hat trick within the first 22 minutes.

Lauren Knoke, Jackie Rosenthal and Alyssa Bryant each scored one goal for the Terrapins (14-5-4).

"We've still got a long way to go in the playoffs, and our main focus as of now is to get back to the state tournament," said Schofield.
