BRADENTON — Fall is typically Hannah Howell's time to shine.
A sophomore at St. Stephen's, Howell had been at regular at the state cross country meet since she began running as a seventh-grader. That changed this year when Howell didn't make it past regionals.
Now she's using soccer season to make up for it.
"Heck, yes," Howell said. "I love having a shot in all these different sports."
The Falcons have a shot at a special season, too, especially after Howell scored two goals and assisted on three others during their 6-2 win Thursday over Bishop McLaughlin.
Howell's assist set up Alyssa Allen's second goal of the game, which nicked off the left post, giving the Falcons (18-3) a 2-0 lead just before the half.
A minute after the break, Howell knocked in a rebound. And after earning the assist on Martine Miller's goal in the 59th minute, Howell assisted Miller again a minute later.
Then Howell capped the scoring.
"I'm happy that they were nervous and excited," said St. Stephen's coach Eric Howell. "They know that it's win or go home.
St. Stephen's has won its four postseason games by a combined 20-2 score and hosts a region semifinal at 4 Tuesday.
