St. Petersburg girls soccer coach Rui Farias will step down to take over as coach of the Green Devils boys next year.

Farias coached the girls for 10 years and went 176-39-13 with five district titles, three PCAC titles and one state final-four appearance.

"It's been an honor to coach such a hard-working, talented group of players over the years that built the girls program here at St. Pete High," Farias said. "I look forward to the challenge of taking over the boys team."

The school is accepting applications for the girls coaching position. Call Barry Brown at 893-1842 or send e-mail to brownb@pcsb.org.
