Rowdies lose in St. Louis, snapping five-game unbeaten streak

ST. LOUIS — The Rowdies wasted an impressive comeback, losing 4-3 to St. Louis FC on Sunday to snap a five-game unbeaten streak.

Tampa Bay (10-7-6) led 3-2 at halftime after trailing 2-0 within the first five minutes. Rowdies midfielder Marcel Schäfer fired a shot at the far post to beat goalkeeper Adam Grinwis in the 10th minute. Minutes later, forward Georgi Hristov capitalized on a series of rebounds inside the 18-yard box to tie it.

A well-placed cross by defender Kyle Porter found a diving Martin Paterson, who headed the ball into the net to give the Rowdies the lead in the 36th minute.

St. Louis answered in the 67th minute when Seth Rudolph scored his second goal of the night off a header to the far post. Minutes later, Ivan Mirkovic's low shot into the heart of the box got redirected by defender Konrad Plewa and past goalkeeper Matt Pickens.
