OTTAWA — The Rowdies earned a point and a shutout on the road Saturday with a 0-0 tie against the Ottawa Fury at TD Place.
Tampa Bay (2-1-3) drew within two points of NASL leader New York, which plays Edmonton today at home.
Rowdies goalkeeper Matt Pickens had two saves to lower his goals-against average to 0.50. Romuald Desire Peiser also had two saves for Ottawa (1-3-2).
Rowdies midfielder Richard Menjivar, acquired last week in a trade from San Antonio, played all 90 minutes in his debut.
Midfielder Marcelo Saragosa, Tampa Bay's captain, took a shot to the chin that drew blood in the 34th minute. He had to be substituted in the 76th minute.
