Northside ousted by four-run sixth inning
Northside Christian became the latest county team to fall victim to the rallying prowess of Moore Haven on Friday. The Mustangs had a two-run lead in their region semifinal against the Terriers but surrendered a run in the fifth and four in the sixth to fall 5-2.
The Terriers (17-9), who rallied past Shorecrest in a region quarterfinal, faced two outs with nobody on in the sixth before getting a walk and four straight singles.
"We got out of some jams for three or four innings, but it finally caught up to us," Northside Christian coach Steve Fisher said.
Northside (10-10) scored in the first, loading the bases with two outs. Lauren Touzour fouled off four pitches with two strikes before walking to force in a run. Kayla Turner followed with an RBI single. "If we score more runs there, it could have been a different ball game," Fisher said.
