2A softball: Northside Christian's rally not quite enough

Class 2A

Mustangs' rally not quite enough

LAKELAND — Zoe Wilson's running shoestring catch and subsequent throw to double up a runner who left second base gave Lakeland Christian a 6-4 victory Tuesday over Northside Christian in a Class 2A region final.

The Vikings (20-4) jumped on the Mustangs (24-3) for a 6-0 lead after two innings.

Northside's Jessica Anderson did not allow a hit in the final four innings. The Mustangs got their bats going in the fourth.

Lauren Tozour led off with a double and scored on a single by Mariah Potter. LCS couldn't turn a double play, allowing Potter to get to third on a single by Katheryn Brown and score on a wild pitch. Brown and Stephanie Bonalewicz scored on a two-run single by Kayla Turner.

But Vikings freshman Helen Long, who iced her bad right knee between innings, allowed just two hits the rest of the way.
