Sports in brief: Nuggets may listen to offers for Carmelo Anthony

NBA

Nuggets may Hear offers for Anthony

Though the Nuggets have not withdrawn their contract extension offer to their star forward, the team is said to be considering trading Carmelo Anthony, ESPN.com reported Monday.

Initially, Denver was declining offers, but reports persist that Anthony, who can become a free agent after this season, wants out.

ESPN.com reported that the Nets are among the front-runners.

Potential coach walked on USSF

Juergen Klinsmann, who coached Germany to a third-place finish in the 2006 World Cup, said he negotiated with the U.S. Soccer Federation for nearly a month to become coach before ending talks when the USSF wouldn't put his authority in writing.

The USSF rehired Bob Bradley as the men's national team coach for another four-year stint.

" … It's who has the last word in what issues, and that's where we couldn't get into the written terms," Klinsmann said.

More soccer: Thierry Henry was fined $2,000 by Major League Soccer for a celebratory kick last week that injured Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman. After a goal by a Red Bulls teammate, Henry kicked the ball toward the net, but it struck Hartman on the right knee, injuring his medial collateral ligament.
