RAHM HOPES TO aDD tO COLONIAL MEMORIES

FORT WORTH, Texas — Jon Rahm was at Colonial during tournament week the past two years to accept the Ben Hogan Award that goes to the nation's top college golfer. This time, he's among the leaders in the PGA event at Hogan's Alley.

With his 4-under 66 Thursday, Rahm was a stroke behind first-round leaders Kelly Kraft, Derek Fathauer and PGA Tour rookie J.T. Poston.

"The last two times I was here, all I recorded was super happy and positive memories," Rahm said. "It's just the vibe that I have around this place is so positive, especially with Sergio (Garcia) winning and with the Ben Hogan history that I'm related to now."

LPGA: Stacy Lewis shot 7-under 65 to share the first-round lead in the Volvik Championship in Ann Arbor, Mich. Lewis was tied with Wei-Ling Hsu, who has only one top-10 finish.

CHAMPIONS: Bernhard Langer shot 7-under 65 to take a two-shot lead in the first round of the Senior PGA Championship in Sterling, Va. Langer would break Jack Nicklaus' record of eight senior majors with a win.

Top two seeds rally to win in Geneva

Second-seeded Kei Nishikori saved three straight match points in the deciding set before outlasting Kevin Anderson 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) in the Geneva Open quarterfinals. Top-seeded Stan Wawrinka rallied to beat Sam Querrey 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.

LYON OPEN: Top-seeded Milos Raonic eased into the semifinals in France with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over qualifier Gastao Elias. Raonic will next play third-seeded Tomas Berdych, who beat No. 5 Gilles Simon 6-4, 6-0.

AUTOS: Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel was quickest in the second practice for the Monaco Grand Prix.

CYCLING: American Tejay van Garderen claimed his first grand tour victory on the tough 18th stage of the Giro d'Italia. Tom Dumoulin kept the pink jersey.

SOCCER: Josh Sargent scored in the 34th minute, and the United States beat Senegal 1-0 at Incheon, South Korea, to move into good position to reach the knockout stage of the Under-20 World Cup.
