If you haven't heard, Twitter is taking over the world. Replacing phone calls, conversations, newspapers, 140 characters at a time.
In fact, some of us Twitterfolk can now only write in sentences that are 140 characters or less. Sad, but true. LOL.
Look! @TBSportsDaddy is doing it right now! @TBSportsDaddy can't stop himself! (And it makes us write in third person sometimes as well.)
But the fun in Twitter isn't so much about what you write. Not everyone uses it as a forum to bore people with their daily meanderings.
Does it matter what @TBSportsDaddy had for breakfast (coffee, bagel, btw), or how cute @TBSportsDaddy's kids are (very!)?
Who cares what TV show @TBSportsDaddy is watching (Saving Grace), or what pants @TBSportsDaddy is wearing (none, if you must know).
The fun is in whose meanderings you follow on Twitter. Like, say, sports folks'.
Since they can't join us for dinner and drinks, they can still converse with us. Kinda. Sorta. It's as close as you'll get.
Why should u care? Who says u have to. @TBSportsDaddy finds them amusing. Interesting. Better even than JimmyJox, his imaginary friend from childhood.
Oops. Getting personal again. I've said too much already. So if you follow Twitter, try these pro stars on for 140-character size.

A note: Hey there. It's @TBSportsDaddy. I'm the new St. Petersburg Times sports Twitter guy. I'm not going to dump links on you (well, some). I'm not an RSS feed. I'm a real live guy who is going to entertain, inform, anger and probably write a tweet that eventually gets me fired. (They've got June 16 in the office pool, in case you're wondering.)
Don't let the name throw you. I won't tweet about daddy stuff, such as my son's Little League results. Unless you ask. (@TBSportsDaddy'sSon has a pretty good bat.)
I preferred @TBSportsDreamboat. That got shot down by editors who decided that though inarguably mildly handsome in a lukewarm through-squinted-eyes kind of way, I am hardly dreamy in any way.
So @TBSportsDaddy it is.
What will my tweets be about? Tampa Bay sports stuff. Links to cool stuff in our paper and beyond. And yes, what I had for breakfast. I just can't resist.
Follow me at twitter.com/TBSportsDaddy.
I'll follow you.
Let's see if we can make it past June 16.

Great moments in history: "Ask not what your country can do for you … ", We have nothing to fear … ", "One small step for man … " and "In da locker room, snuck to post my twitt. We're playing the Celtics, tie ball game at da half. Coach wants more toughness. I gotta step up." That last great moment was a tweet from the Bucks' Charlie Villanueva, which rocketed him to Twitterinfamy.
