FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Tim Tebow survived the Patriots' cut to 77 players.
The Patriots must make two more moves before today's league deadline to get to 75. The final 53-man roster will be announced Saturday.
"I'm just focused on today," Tebow, the former Heisman Trophy winner at Florida, said Monday after practice.
Nine-year veteran linebacker Niko Koutouvides, a former Buc, was among those New England released.
Major cuts: Among the more recognizable names released were receivers Donte Stallworth (by the Redskins) and Braylon Edwards (Jets) and running back/returner Joe McKnight (Jets). Stallworth signed in June, three months after he was seriously burned in a hot air balloon accident in Miami.
BILLS: Offensive tackle Chris Hairston (back injury) is out for the season and cornerback Stephon Gilmore (broken left wrist) is out six to eight weeks.
CARDINALS: Coach Bruce Arians said Jonathan Cooper, the team's first-round draft pick in April, could be back for the final six games after having surgery on his broken left leg.
49ERS: Linebacker Parys Haralson left camp, acknowledging that he had been traded. Multiple media reports said he was dealt to the Saints.
GIANTS: Defensive end and former USF standout Jason Pierre-Paul, coming off of back surgery, was activated off of the physically unable to perform list.
JETS: Quarterback Mark Sanchez rode a stationary bike, but wasn't using his right hand on it, two days after injuring his shoulder late in a preseason game against the Giants. He's day-to-day. … The league suspended running back Mike Goodson for the first four games of the season for violating substance abuse policy.
Saints: Outside linebacker Will Smith is out for the season with a knee injury.
VIKINGS: Pro Bowl fullback Jerome Felton received a three-game suspension for violating substance abuse policy. … Defensive tackle Kevin Williams has a hyperextended right knee but no ligament damage after a low hit from 49ers guard Joe Looney on Sunday.
