Vols name their quarterback

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Senior quarterback Justin Worley will start Tennessee's Aug. 31 opener against Utah State, coach Butch Jones announced Thursday. Sophomores Nathan Peterman and Joshua Dobbs continue to compete for the backup job.

"I was hoping that he would lean my way," Worley said. "Now I've just got to take the opportunity and run with it."

georgia: Starting fullback Merritt Hall has been forced to give up football due to recurring concussions. The school announced the junior has been medically disqualified by the sports medicine staff. He suffered his latest concussion last week during practice.

Texas: Vince Young, who quarterbacked the Longhorns to the 2005 national championship, has been hired for community relations and fundraising, a $100,000-a-year job created specifically for him that wasn't posted to attract other applicants.
