BOSTON — Jose Iglesias hit a two-run homer in the sixth, Justin Verlander pitched six solid innings and the Tigers spoiled Drew Pomeranz's second start with Boston. Victor Martinez and James McCann also drove in runs for the Tigers. Detroit pulled within 5½ games of the idle AL Central-leading Indians. Verlander allowed one run and five hits and struck out five to pick up the victory. He is 3-0 in his last five starts. Pomeranz, recently acquired from the Padres, gave up four hits and struck out seven in six innings.
