ANAHEIM, Calif. — Carl Pavano pitched seven sharp innings in his season debut and Justin Morneau and J.J. Hardy each homered for the second straight game for the Twins. Jon Rauch allowed a two-out RBI single in the ninth by Mike Napoli before picking up his second save in two games. Angels designated hitter Hideki Matsui was 3-for-4. He doubled in the seventh and scored on Juan Rivera's two-out single.
