Twins 4, Royals 1
MINNEAPOLIS — Phil Hughes pitched seven sharp innings, and the Twins snapped the Royals' three-game winning streak. Rookie Yordano Ventura had allowed one hit before Minnesota broke through in the seventh. With runners on second and third, Ventura threw a 99-mph fastball that shattered Danny Santana's bat, but Santana reached when Billy Butler threw late to home to try to get Kurt Suzuki. Brian Dozier followed with a go-ahead double.
