Twins 6, Orioles 4

BALTIMORE — Phil Hughes held the Orioles without an earned run over eight innings, Joe Mauer had four RBIs and the Twins avoided a four-game sweep. Nelson Cruz hit his majors-high 36th home run and Nick Hundley had a three-run shot for Baltimore, whose lead in the American League East over the idle Yankees slipped to 81/2 games. After being outscored 24-11 in the first three games of the series, Minnesota won for the second time in its past nine.
