CHICAGO — James Shields broke out of a slump, the former Rays ace getting his first win since he tossed seven scoreless innings for the Padres at Milwaukee on May 12. He was acquired by Chicago in a trade on June 4 and in his first four White Sox starts was 0-2 with a 15.80 ERA.
