Yankees 8, Tigers 4

DETROIT — The Yankees chased former Rays ace David Price with nine straight hits in the third inning. New York scored all of its runs in the third off Price, who had pitched a one-hitter against Tampa Bay in his previous start. Jacoby Ellsbury started the barrage, and the Yankees went all the way through the order until the 2012 AL Cy Young Award winner was pulled. New York moved within 21/2 games of the Mariners for the second AL wild card.
