Tampa Catholic custodian charged with sexual battery

TAMPA — A custodian at Tampa Catholic High School has been charged with three counts of sexual battery, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Herbert Jones, 31, confessed to the June 22 incident and said the teenage victim "tried to refuse his advances," according to the Sheriff’s news release. Fox 13 reported that the alleged victim is not a student at Tampa Catholic High School and that the battery took place off the school’s campus. The Sheriff's Office did not immediately return a request to confirm this.The Sheriff's Office is investigating if there are any other victims, given Jones’ position at the school, and advises anyone with "information on this active investigation" to call the Sheriff’s Office at (813) 247-8200.
