BULLY PULPIT

Just about everyone knows someone who has been bullied, in ways big and small. Understandably, though, many victims are reluctant to speak about their experiences. We found some who aren't.

Tired of your student government’s lame choices for spirit week themes? Consider some of these alternatives:

Monday: UNDEAD CELEBRITIES DAY
You know the drill. You go to school Monday morning half-asleep, and you slog through the day. After what seems like the shortest weekend yet, you feel like one of the living dead. But wouldn’t it be so much more bearable if you had Billy Mays in your class shouting to you about OxiClean? Okay, maybe not, but there are plenty of celebrities we all want to see back. Let zombies kick off your week.
Inspiration: Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson (circa Thriller)

Tuesday: VAMPIRES VS. VAMPIRES DAY
It’s likely you’re either a Twihard or Twihater. Whether or not you think the sparkly saga sucks, wear your glitter with pride or show off your Romanian accent while giving your latest classroom report. Just be careful not to get a paper cut, or your teacher’s pearly whites might put your glow-in-the-dark plastic fangs to shame.
Inspiration: Edward Cullen, Nosferatu

Wednesday: GLEE-FOR-ALL DAY
Face it: In the middle of homecoming week, you’re more concerned about whether they’re going to play any decent songs at the dance than that problem on the board. Any other day, bursting into song when you’re supposed to be solving for X would be unacceptable, but today, not only are you going to sing, but you’re also going to dance and you’re going to like it.
Inspiration: As long as you can dance in it, go for it. For a real Glee look: red shirt, black pants or plaid skirt and knee-highs. If you can pull off Lady Gaga, all the better.

Thursday: 2TWEET 4U DAY
@Ashling: 2day, ur sweet nthings will b tweet nthings.
@Ashling: If u get calld 2 th bord + u hav a teachr w/ a sens of humor, rite ur answr in txt.
@Ashling: All must b in 140 charactrs or lss.
@Ashling: Tlk littl, txt mor when u cmmunicate w/ ur frnds, it’s the only way 2day,  but don’t B longwinded in ur msg or ur imprtnt words might not make ny sns or get cut o
Inspiration: Write in txt language on a T-shirt, or decorate your shirt with a keyboard or cell phone image. Wrist guards are recommended to prevent texter’s thumb.

Friday: DISS-SPIRITED DAY
Finally, Friday is here! You’ve got everything set up for the dance, all that’s left is to beat the other team. To mix it up a little, dress in pride for any school other than your own. Choose the colors of the school you wished you had gone to, or, better yet, the school you hate the most.
Inspiration:  Supporting your rival school is the best option here. Create a ridiculous outfit or if rules allow, paint your whole body.
