Well, for one thing, it's the coolest high school newspaper in all the land. Watch our video and find out more.
Just about everyone knows someone who has been bullied, in ways big and small. Understandably, though, many victims are reluctant to speak about their experiences. We found some who aren't.
“Technology alone is not enough — it’s technology married with the liberal arts, married with the humanities, that yields us the result that makes our hearts sing.”
--Steve Jobs, former Apple CEO and innovator
My name is Harrison Zhao. I am a senior at Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan, NYC. Among other users of Apple products, I was deeply saddened by the recent news of Steve Jobs’ death. I believe that Mr. Jobs has had an impact on all of us in that he inspires us to try and continue his legacy of passion for innovation. One person who was inspired by his revolutionary vision was me. It was from this inspiration that I decided in June to make a series of eight artworks dedicated to paying tribute to Mr. Jobs.
As a user of a Macintosh computer, an iPod and an iPad, I have always been fascinated by Apple products. As I continued to use these products, I also gained an interest in where they came from and from what types of ideas they were created. My curiosity led me to pay more attention to the life and ideas of Steve Jobs. My life also involved art: whether it be helping out my father at his weekend art classes or watching my brother draw bizarre characters. Recently, I read a quote by Steve Jobs: “Technology alone is not enough — it’s technology married with the liberal arts, married with the humanities, that yields us the result that makes our hearts sing.” Coincidentally, I was also looking for a way to pay tribute to the man responsible for so much of the technology I use today. Thus began the idea to start a series of paintings about the man who contributed much to the evolving world of technology.
