What is tb-two*?

Well, for one thing, it's the coolest high school newspaper in all the land. Watch our video and find out more.

BULLY PULPIT

Just about everyone knows someone who has been bullied, in ways big and small. Understandably, though, many victims are reluctant to speak about their experiences. We found some who aren't.

Yes, we know boys have to decide what to wear to homecoming, too. But face it, homecoming is all about the dress.  •  Deciding on that perfect look is tough work. Too long? Too short? Ruffled just right or resembling an overly frosted cupcake?  •  Durant senior Riley Andreu has some experience with finding the right dress. Since she was 5, she has been in more than 10 pageants. They include Durant’s Calendar Girl Competition, in which  she placed each year, and the Plant City Strawberry Festival’s Strawberry Queen Pageant. For homecoming this year, Andreu headed to De’Javu Upscale Boutique in Plant City, where owner Sheryll Broadnax has helped her find the perfect dresses for all of her pageant needs.  •  Through her pageant outfitting, Andreu has learned you need an open mind and plenty of time to find THE ONE. And it also helps to have an honest friend with you in the dressing room. She brought along Haley Rushing, also a senior at Durant.

Listen in on their conversations and see which dress wins.

Party Time, $248
Baby blue sequin dress with cross-front strap neckline
Haley: The neckline is definitely unique. I’m not sure how I feel about it, though.
Riley: Yeah, I agree, but it will be difficult to sit down in. And I already wore blue last year.

MacDougal, $288
Pink ruffled A-line dress
Riley: Oh my God, I look like Elle Woods.
Haley: Yeah, you look more ready for a court date than homecoming.

Mary’s Kiss Kiss, $358
Multicolored jeweled top with a pink waterfall ruffled skirt
Riley: This avalanche of ruffles cascading down the front is a nice contrast to the jewels on the top.
Haley: No doubt if Barbie were going to an underwater-themed homecoming, she’d wear that.

Princess by Party Time, $245
Multicolored sweetheart dress with burgundy piping and belt
Riley: This one is pretty awesome. It looks like a nebula!
Haley: If you wore that one, the freshmen dancing around you would look like little planets.

MacDougal, $308
Pink fitted dress with chiffon overskirt and jeweled neckline
Haley: Whoa! This one is my clear favorite! It’s like a superhero going to homecoming.
Riley: If I get on (homecoming) court, I am definitely getting this!

Special thanks to Sheryll Broadnax, De’Javu Upscale Boutique, Plant City.
