BULLY PULPIT

Just about everyone knows someone who has been bullied, in ways big and small. Understandably, though, many victims are reluctant to speak about their experiences. We found some who aren't.

Mr. Monk, at home at last!
The famous macaque monkey who has been running wild in Pinellas and Pasco counties may not have found a mate but at least he now has a home. Idolized as the Mystery Monkey of Tampa Bay, the monkey, thought to have been cast out of a wild rhesus macaque colony in Silver Springs, has finally settled in the back yard of an elderly couple’s South Pinellas home. Mr. Monk, as he is affectionately known by his new-found human family, has picked up a few hobbies since we last heard of him. He enjoys licking the frosting out of the middle of Oreos, picking up the couple’s frail old cat and watching his elderly mother cook. (We have so much in common.) You, too can show support for Mr. Monk by liking his Facebook page, Mystery Monkey of Tampa Bay.

Francophilia?
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity: You can be within close distance of James Franco while in your swimsuit. Starting in March, Franco along with Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez will be on St. Pete Beach filming Spring Breakers. The film crew currently is accepting applications for male and female extras, ranging in age from 18 to 25, who can pass for college students who are comfortable in swimsuits. If you’re interested, send in recent photographs, (swimsuit poses are a plus, but don’t make it too creepy) along with your age, name, clothing size and contact info to springbreakersextras@gmail.com. Good luck!

Calling all models!
We want to showcase your beautiful selves, male and female, in upcoming issues of tb-two*. Our photoshoots are fun; where else could you re-create the final scenes of Titanic in a backyard pool or pose in an alley looking hip or show off in gorgeous prom attire? Previous modeling experience not necessary. Send us a current head shot, your name, grade and school to tbtwostaff@gmail.com. Prom shoots are scheduled soon, so please respond ASAP.

Lightning ladies
The Tampa Bay region is host to one of two all-girls hockey teams, the Junior Lightning. This girls hockey team, for players ages 10 to 18, recently competed in an all-girls tournament in West Palm Beach. For more information, including about how to join, visit JrLightingGirlsHockey.com.

Until November
As an avalanche of TV advertisements have already informed you, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1 has been released on Blu-ray and DVD. Now you could spend $34 ($30 for DVD) for your own copy, but a much cheaper form of entertainment is Googling reviews of the movie. The Miami Herald notes some of the best lines (or worst, depending on your viewpoint), from rottentomatoes.com: “A freakish hybrid: Part medical horror, part cheesy Victoria’s Catalogue shoot” and “It’s like Roadhouse for women.” Rene Rodriguez of the Herald also takes notice of the people behind the few positive reviews: “The most eloquent defenses of Breaking Dawn were written by women, because the movie is an all-too-rare breed of international blockbuster: A big-budget extravaganza, replete with monsters and special effects (1,400 of them, according to director Bill Condon), told exclusively through a female gaze.” Part 2 is due out in November.
