Well, for one thing, it's the coolest high school newspaper in all the land. Watch our video and find out more.
Just about everyone knows someone who has been bullied, in ways big and small. Understandably, though, many victims are reluctant to speak about their experiences. We found some who aren't.
BY NICOLE ZAKRZEWSKI, PALM HARBOR UNIVERSITY HIGH
Here are four prom face-offs at The St. Pete Boxing Club, which welcomed us like champs: short vs. long, strapless vs. sleeveless, and bow tie vs. tie.
Finding the perfect prom outfit can be a struggle, with so many contenders. How do you choose a style, or color? Or price: rent or buy? Or length: short, long, or both in one? To help you, tb-two* staged a glamorous fight club, and feel free to talk about this one. If it’s your first night here, you have to dance. (If some other girl shows up wearing the same dress, well, then it may go from battle to war, but you’re on your own there.)
★ Bee Darlin, Dillard’s $189
Next up for victory is Zora Wells, a senior from Lakewood High. Zora’s dark coral chiffon gown has a ruched and richly beaded bodice, the beading continuing up the halter strap, with full-length skirt flowing from the empire waist.
Zora’s commentary: “I love the salmon color of this dress; it’s what I want my actual prom dress to be, except mine will be strapless.”
★ Sue Wong, Lending luxury
Sonya Truong, a sophomore from St. Petersburg High, comes out ready to win wearing a rose slip dress with beaded and sequined overlay. The dress has a deeply scooped back and a most charming feature: an ostrich feathered, petaled drop-waist skirt. $65 five-day rental, $481 retail.
Sonya’s commentary: “I like the intricacies of this dress, especially the beading and sequins and feathers.”
