Well, for one thing, it's the coolest high school newspaper in all the land. Watch our video and find out more.
Just about everyone knows someone who has been bullied, in ways big and small. Understandably, though, many victims are reluctant to speak about their experiences. We found some who aren't.
BY NICOLE ZAKRZEWSKI, PALM HARBOR UNIVERSITY HIGH
Here are four prom face-offs at The St. Pete Boxing Club, which welcomed us like champs: strapless vs. sleeveless, feathers vs. beads, and bow tie vs. tie.
Finding the perfect prom outfit can be a struggle, with so many contenders. How do you choose a style, or color? Or price: rent or buy? Or length: short, long, or both in one? To help you, tb-two* staged a glamorous fight club, and feel free to talk about this one. If it’s your first night here, you have to dance. (If some other girl shows up wearing the same dress, well, then it may go from battle to war, but you’re on your own there.)
★ BEE Darlin, Dillard’s, $99
Roaring to go from her corner is junior Maddy Acton from Tarpon Springs High, sporting a coral strapless taffeta teacup dress with magenta and fuchsia petal accented skirt over net petticoat. The pleated bodice is complemented by cummerbund waist with wide sash.
Maddy’s commentary: “This dress is just foxy. Sassy would be another good word for it. It pops!”
★ Aidan Mattox, Lending Luxury
Julia Crawford, a senior from Wharton High, is a strong competitor, wearing an ivory floor-length silk dress with a delicately ruched empire waist and a white sequin and bead on gold mesh bodice and back. $65 five-day rental, $485 retail.
Julia’s commentary: “This dress is very classic, traditional and white, which I love. My dress for prom is going to be white, too. The dress has pretty good danceability to it, it’s very flowy.”
★ The details: Pictured from left to right at bottom.
1. The sequin/bead detail is a knock-out on this Aidan Mattox gown. (Photos by Alexa Tsongranis, Palm Harbor University High)
2. A wide sash nicely finishes this Bee Darlin cummerbund waist dress.
3. Ostrich feathers adorn a drop-waist skirt on this Sue Wong creation.
