CHRIS ON CHRIS: As you can tell, inspiration for my work comes from the My Little Pony series. I’ve always had an interest in art, and had background experience with anime before I started my Pony fan art. I especially enjoy drawing animals and creatures; they take on a personality that humans sometimes can’t express.

Creativity plays a big role in my work. I always strive to create new situations and experience for my own characters and ponies alike. Without a unique style, you don’t stand out in the artistic world and I think it’s important for every artist to separate himself. Of course, nothing beats a classic Pony pose. Lately I’ve been working on more consistency in my work. Although far from perfection, I’ve finally achieved that point where people see my art and go, “Oh, I bet Chris made that!”

The biggest thing I like about MLP is its wide cast of characters. Fluttershy’s my favorite. I can relate to her, I’m pretty shy around people and I like animals. She’s also pretty cute, she’s cute. Everytime she makes a squeak sound it’ll make your teeth rot from the sweetness. I also love seeing some of the background characters like Derdy, Lyra, Bon Bon and my other favorite, Caramel. Giving these usually ignored characters personalities is really neat; I feel like I’m actually a member of the MLP:FiM staff. Contributing to the fan community is one of my favorite things to do; My Little Pony wouldn’t be the hit it is if it wasn’t for the constant supply of fan created content.
