BULLY PULPIT

Just about everyone knows someone who has been bullied, in ways big and small. Understandably, though, many victims are reluctant to speak about their experiences. We found some who aren't.

High schoolers are playing an integral red, white and blue part in the Republican National Convention.

Chorus, Showcase Choir and piano students from Gaither High helped inflate more than 120,000 patriotically colored balloons at the Tampa Bay Times Forum on Friday morning, the ones that will be used for the convention's iconic drop on Thursday.

The volunteers are reaping a benefit in addition to the fun of being part of political history. They're being paid $50 each by the balloon company for their help. "All the money we make is going to be donated to our chorus department," senior Randi Embras told tb-two*.

The students had their photo taken on the RNC stage at the forum, and received lunch and T-shirts.

"The school doesn't have any association with the Republican or Democratic parties," Embras said. "It's just a once in a lifetime opportunity."
