BULLY PULPIT

Just about everyone knows someone who has been bullied, in ways big and small. Understandably, though, many victims are reluctant to speak about their experiences. We found some who aren't.

Read through the instructions below and then click on the photo at left to see a visual gallery of the 11 steps. Happy crafting!

Step 1: Get a T-shirt you don't wear anymore or simply want to update, and lay it out on a flat surface.

Step 2: Cut a slit about one inch away from the shoulder seam of the sleeve on both sides.

Step 3: To make a new neckline, continue cutting from one side to the other near the neckband for a flirty off shoulder look to be paired with a tank top or camisole.

Step 4: Fold the back of the shirt in half vertically and make 4-inch horizontal cuts about the width of a finger apart. Make the cuts as far down the back of the shirt as you desire.

Step 5: Stretch and pull the strips you made so the edges curl up a bit.

Step 6: Take the second strip from the top and pull it up from BEHIND the first string.

Step 7: Now pull the second strip down IN FRONT of the first strip so it makes a loop.

Step 8: Now you take your third strip and pretty much do the exact same thing as before. Pull it up BEHIND the previous strip and pull down IN FRONT to create another loop. Continue this step until you reach the very last strip.

Step 9: When you are done it should look something like this with one last loop hanging at the end. Cut that loop in half and tie it to the strip above it.

Step 10: Once you are done you can cut the lower hem off if you wish. You can do the same to the hems of the sleeves. You can leave it all as it is, fringe it or come up with your own cool finishing touches.

Step 11: And voila! You have given your boring old T-shirt some personality that's fun to wear.
