BULLY PULPIT

Just about everyone knows someone who has been bullied, in ways big and small. Understandably, though, many victims are reluctant to speak about their experiences. We found some who aren't.

Sorella Andersen

St. Petersburg High junior

I’ve always loved art. My mom was studying it when I was young, so I definitely take after her. Drawing and painting were some of my favorite pastimes growing up, but I really fell in love with art over the past couple of years. What was once a hobby is now one of my biggest passions. Coming into high school I loved cartoonish drawings, but since then I think my tastes have expanded a lot. My current favorite artists are Bruce Nauman, Hope Gangloff and Egon Schiele. I love looking at abstract expressionism and modern art, and I love experimenting with textures, lines and contrast. I really love doing portraits, usually of my friends, my sister or myself. Recently I’ve been painting a lot on the covers or pages of old books, which is a lot of fun. I’m definitely considering majoring in art in college; I figure that with only one life to live, why not go after your passions?
