Get your getups on together for double (or more) the fun

You may no longer be interested in trick-or-treating, but that doesn't mean you and your friends can't be a hit at a Halloween costume party. Whether you're going with your best friend, a group of friends, or a boyfriend/girlfriend, here are some creative, easy-to-make Halloween costumes that are sure to turn heads.

Super heroes

Save the world with your partner in crime. This costume is simple enough to assemble. Depending which super hero is your favorite, you can color-coordinate with a friend to make your uniforms fantastic. Perfect example: Batman and Robin.

Batman: Gray shirt, black tights, shoes and cape; bright yellow belt. Don't forget the black eye mask with bat ears. Print out a copy of the bright yellow Batman symbol and add it to the front of the uniform, and you're set.

Robin: Long- or short-sleeved green T-shirt, with red sleeveless shirt over it; tan leggings, with green briefs on top; yellow cape, green shoes; black strip of fabric with a pair of eye holes for the mask.

1960s pilot and flight attendant

Look for photos online of the defunct PanAm airlines to guide your classy retro look. A few things might be needed from a costume store.

Pilot: Dark suit (pants and jacket) and white collared shirt (preferably short sleeved; dark tie. To buy: Pilot style hat, name tag and airplane wings pin. Complete the look with some cool aviator sunglasses.

Flight attendant: PanAm stewardesses, as they were called back then, wore powder blue pencil skirts with matching blazers. If you can't find this color, don't sweat it. Just improvise. Find a black skirt and jacket and white collared shirt and pull some cute pumps from your closet. To buy: Cute stewardess-type hat in a costume or thrift store; white gloves.

The evil genius Gru and his little yellow minions

This idea from the movie Despicable Me is perfect for a group of friends.

Gru: Dark pants, shirt and shoes; scarf of a different shade, such as gray. If you want to be completely authentic, get a skull cap from a costume shop to replicate Gru's bald head.

Minions: Yellow T-shirt, blue denim overalls over the T-shirt, sneakers and swim goggles

Mario and Luigi

These Italian video game brothers are fun to act out and have fairly simple outfits.

Mario: Red shirt and hat; blue denim overalls. If you can't find overalls, improvise with jean shorts and suspenders; funny stick-on mustache.

Luigi: Exactly like the Mario costume except shirt and hat are green.

Bamm-Bamm and Pebbles

Channel your inner prehistoric toddlers from The Flinstones.

Bamm-Bamm: Use a black fabric marker to draw black triangles on an old pair of khaki shorts, cut the hem to look jagged; make a shoulder sash from brown fabric; add a little brown cap marked with triangles; and a club. Go barefoot.

Pebbles: Bright green sleeveless shirt, preferably one with a swingy hem, add triangles drawn with black fabric marker; bright blue shorts; buy a bone hair clip from a costume store. Go barefoot.
