Try your hand at volunteering this summer

For those who regard summer break as not only a time to relax, but also to give back to society, here are four places in in Tampa where high school students can volunteer.

m Museum of Science and Industry

4801 E Fowler Ave.

Age requirement: 14 and older

At MOSI, students can volunteer in the museum as greeters or in the summer camp program as an aide to camp counselors.

Tampa Museum of Art

120 W Gasparilla Plaza

Age requirement: 16 and older

The venue is looking for volunteers to help camp instructors in ensuring that each day runs smoothly. This duty includes setting up materials, cleaning classrooms and preparing activities as requested by the instructors.

James A. Haley VA Medical Center

13000 Bruce B. Downs Blvd.

Age requirement: 14 and older

The hospital offers a student/youth volunteer program in which students can gain real-world experience while learning about the contributions that service members have made to society. Applications can be picked up in the hospital's auditorium.

The Centre for Girls

105 W Sligh Ave.

Age requirement: 14 and older

This is an education center focused on teaching positive self-expression in girls. The organization uses volunteers to assist with marketing projects, in the art room and with administrative tasks.
