1 Elaborate picnics: American Stage presents its annual musical in Demens Landing Park, and this year it’s The Producers (read more here). Packing a picnic is one of the best parts of this tradition, and some folks really commit. You’re likely to see everything from a bucket of KFC to white tablecloths and polished silver.

2 Youth art: Top of the line fine arts and crafts are the order of the weekend at the juried Mainsail Art Festival in St. Petersburg (read more here). But be sure to stop and appreciate the work of the best emerging young artists from Pinellas County schools.

3 No Shoes Nation: Kenny Chesney, who graces devotees with his laid back country vibes at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Saturday (read more here), is quite the merch king. The name of his fan club is emblazoned on everything from T-shirts to decorative wooden surfboards to Chesney’s trademark ball caps.
