St. Petersburg Brewing joins craft beer lineup

St. Petersburg Brewing joins craft beer lineup

The Ale and the Witch, the new American craft beer bar in downtown St. Petersburg, will pour the first offering Thursday (April 7)  from another newcomer -- the St. Petersburg Brewing Co. (Read more about the people behind the brew.)

The brewing company's web site says it was "born of a desire to provide beer enthusiasts a beer choice that exemplifies the essence of St. Petersburg, FL. The city rich in history with gorgeous waterfront and beaches provide the perfect foundation for a great beer.'' Its Facebook page calls it "a small craft brew company which creates latitude friendly lagers for the great people of St Pete.''

But the first beer is actually an ale called St. Pete Orange Wheat, made with orange peel and coriander seeds (4.7 a.b.v.).

The Ale and the Witch, 111 Second Ave. NE,  will debut the new beer during a pre-Blues Festival show featuring the Damon Fowler Band. The music starts at 6 p.m. but the beer is expected to be tapped before then, maybe as early as 4 p.m.
