Here's something nifty that museums are doing this summer to celebrate the duty and sacrifices of our military members.
The Blue Star Museum initiative is partnering with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and more than 1,300 museums across the nation to offer free admission to all active-duty military personnel, their spouses and children from Memorial Day, May 30, through Labor Day, Sept. 5, 2011.
Here's a list of museums locally who are on the list. (To see more, go to this website.)
Armed Forces Military Museum (Largo)
G Whiz, the Science Museum (Sarasota)
John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art (Sarasota)
Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art (Tarpon Springs)
Museum of Fine Arts (St. Petersburg)
Plant City Photo Archives and History Center (Plant City)
Polk Museum of Art (Lakeland)
Many local and regional museums also offer a special admission for active-duty military personnel.
