K.Kringle's in St. Pete Beach more than just a Christmas store

Tampa Bay doesn't exactly scream White Christmas, but that hasn't stopped Lindsey Stanton and her daughter Kristen McCalla from making it happen year-round inside their shop, K. Kringle's Christmas & Holiday Shoppe.

Located in St. Pete Beach, far away from the North Pole, the women have set up a holiday wonderland where one can find just about anything to keep a home festive all year. From Easter egg lights ($17.95) to The Witch is In door plaques for Halloween ($18.95), glittery leaves ($8.95) for Thanksgiving and a miniature pastel candy tree ($15) that can make for a springtime arrangement or Christmas candyland set-up, the store is divided into sections by holiday, the current one taking more space and center stage with the most decorations available.

Stanton and McCalla, self-proclaimed "Chief Elf Officers," opened K. Kringle's in 2000 after having worked in a holiday shop and loving it so much they wanted to have their own. The store gets a mix of collectors and customers from those planning ahead for major holidays to tourists who have never seen a holiday store.

Disney figurines featuring princesses like Brave's Merida ($60.95) and Department 56 village sets are immensely popular, specially because K. Kringle's is the only store in the area that carries them. The villages have different themes, from Dickens' 19th century to Halloween, and new buildings and accessories, like a 1950s toy store ($49) and a set of 10 Victorian street lights ($30.95), are released every year so collectors can keep adding to their scenes.

Although K. Kringle's carries all the classic holiday accessories, Florida doesn't evoke the most seasonal of feelings — a fact not lost on the owners, who also carry a collection of beach-themed pieces. Seashell tree ornaments ($10.95), hand-painted St. Pete Beach ornaments done by local artist Tamara Simmons ($15.95) and figurines of Santa Claus golfing ($72) or ready to hit the beach ($62) are also available for those who prefer to decorate their palm tree.
