Reader's exchange: She needs the right cord for mushroom lamp

Can anyone help bring a light back into Patricia's life? She has a lamp she is very fond of: It is shaped like a mushroom and stands 5 inches tall, with its cap being 7 inches in diameter. In her several moves, she and her family have lost the electrical cord that they need for it. The cord is about 7 or 8 feet in length, with a wall plug-in at one end and a bulb about the size of a marble or a little bit larger on the other end that inserts in a little opening under the cap of the mushroom.

Patricia is hoping someone out there has an electrical cord that meets this description and can help get their little mushroom light back in commission. Patricia lives in Tarpon Springs and can be reached at (727) 937-5240.

Compassion for All His Creatures is a 501(c)3 animal rescue in Brooksville. Last year, co-founder Peggy wrote a letter requesting a used washer and dryer for the facility. Peggy wrote in again this week to say that she just received that washer and dryer from a wonderful couple. They had held on to that newspaper clipping all this time!

Peggy is hoping to have the same luck again, because the facility is now in need of pavers for the dog runs.

Also, the group is gearing up for its annual yard sale fundraiser, so if anyone has leftover items from their own yard sales, Compassion for All His Creatures will gladly take them off your hands. Peggy says they are able to pick up items from Spring Hill, Brooksville, Hudson and parts of Port Richey. Peggy can be reached at (352) 556-6222.

Bill of St. Petersburg is part of a ministry that feeds the homeless and usually has a short non-denominational service afterward, strictly voluntary, which is well-attended. Many of the folks who attend request Bibles, especially the large print version, so Bill is looking for used Bibles. They can be dropped off with the receptionist at Suncoast Cathedral, 2300 62nd Ave. N, St. Petersburg.

If you cannot deliver them, please give Bill a call at (727) 742-0181 and he will make arrangements to pick them up.

Faithful REXer Lucie Somers is hoping that someone out there will either have or know where to find Velvet Pastels to color with. She says that years ago everyone sold them, but now neither her husband nor her CNA can find them anywhere.

If you can help Lucie, please write to her at 1415 Main St., Lot 219, Dunedin, FL 34698.
