Adventure Island's 30 acres provide water-soaked excitement for guests of all ages. The park's laid-back Florida Keys theme is punctuated with corkscrew slides, waterfalls, a giant wave pool and a rambling river.
The 17,000-square foot Endless Surf produces rolling waves up to 5 feet high. Paradise Lagoon offers jumps from a cliff (a 20-foot platform), swings from a vine-like cable, slides and waterfalls. Then there's Riptide, a four-lane mat slide that features an enclosed 55-foot plunge and open-air lanes for a serious drenching.
Splash Attack offers a huge tree house with a maze of 50 water play toys like jets, levers, and rope pulls, plus twisting slides, bridges, cargo nets and web crawls. A 1,000-gallon wooden bucket empties every seven minutes and there are 500 feet of twisting open flumes and closed tubes. It is open to all park visitors.
Little ones will love Fabian's Fun Port, a scaled-down destination sized just right for smaller hands and kid-size courage. There's a mini wave pool, plus bubbly springs and jumping jets in a sprayground. Or they can go vertical and climb on a water-friendly jungle gym.
There are plenty of food options on site, from grab-and-go places to the more relaxing Bayou Beach Club.
Adventure Island is opened daily from the middle of May through the beginning of September, and weekends through the rest of September and October. Hours vary so check the website. You can rent cabanas for the day and lockers. Paradise Lagoon and Endless Surf are accessible facilities. Children who normally wear a diaper are required to wear a swim diaper while in the park. There are special deals for Florida and Georgia residents. A $74.95 package is available for Adventure Island and neighboring Busch Gardens, which has its own water rides and splash playgrounds.
