10000 Bay Pines Blvd., St. Petersburg, FL 33744
When opened in 1933, the cemetery was for patients of the adjoining Veterans hospital and residence. It is now the final resting place for more than 29,000 veterans. A large monument of pink Etowah marble is dedicated to “the memory of those who served their country” and stands at the entrance to the cemetery grounds. A paved road overhung by oak trees loops around the central, casketed burial area. Cremated remains are interred in the ground and a columbarium in surrounding areas. Bay Pines National Cemetery is traditionally the site of the largest Memorial Day service in St. Petersburg.
The cemetery is open for visitation from dawn until dusk. The cemetery offices are open Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding federal holidays). Bay Pines is open to cremated remains. It may be able to accommodate casketed remains in the same gravesite of previously interred family members.
