The 1939 art-deco theater closed Nov. 17, 2012 after years of financial struggles.

It had specialized in arthouse flicks and cult favorites, cinema classics, second- and first-run movies, concerts and concert films. The theater also hosted big-screen competitions for video games like Halo 3 and Rock Band.

Owner and screenwriter Michael France's single-screen, 245-seat movie house wais a local favorite and harkened back to a time when going to the movies was an experience, and popcorn came with real butter.
