The FSU Center for the Performing Arts is the home of the Asolo Repertory Theatre, the FSU/Asolo Conservatory and the Sarasota Ballet. The center contains two stages, the Mertz and Cook theaters. The Asolo Rep performs primarily in the Mertz Theatre, a 500-seat facility. The teaching and acting conservatory uses the more intimate 161-seat Cook Theatre for most of its performances. Built in 1994, the Cook creates a closer relationship between audience and stage. Along with classic and cutting-edge plays, students present the "LateNite" series of  original works. In addition, the FSU School of Theatre presents special events and performances.

The FSU center is adjacent to the Ringling Museum of Art. Wheelchair seating is available in all theaters but must be requested when ordering tickets. In the Cook Theatre most seats require mobility up or down a small number of stairs. Complimentary hearing amplification system headsets are available but should be reserved. Open captioning is available for some performances.

Light refreshments are available in the lobby prior to a performance and during intermission. There is a gift shop in the lobby. Free tours, including a look at the costume shop, are available Wednesday–Saturday, 10 and 11 a.m., November through May. Call the box office.
