E. G. Simmons Park

If an afternoon at the beach isn't enough, grab a tent and head to this park near Ruskin, which offers camping. The large, 469-acre park along Tampa Bay has picnic areas, a boat launch, fishing piers and a public beach with great views of St. Petersburg. A longtime favorite of outdoor enthusiasts, E.G. Simmons is good for bird watching in the shallow waters of the surrounding mangroves. It hosts a variety of community events.

Undoubtedly, the most popular features of the park are the picnic areas and campground, which boasts beautiful waterfront views. E.G. Simmons Park has 87 individual camp sites and one group site.

Hours:  Spring/summer 7 a.m.-7 p.m., fall/winter 7 a.m -6 p.m.

Fees:    Entry - $2 per vehicle carrying up to eight people and $1 each additional person.

Boat Launch - $5 per boat

Camping fees - $24 per night, $18 per night for seniors. Camping is on a first come, first served basis. Reservations are not accepted, and campers must register with the office before taking a campsite.

Canoe/Kayak Rental - $25 for four hours

Shelter Rental - Small Shelter $40 per day  
Medium Shelter $70 per day  
Large Shelter $125 per day  
Extra Large Shelter $225 per day
