Take a step back into Pinellas County's past, before urban sprawl, strip malls and U.S. 19. More than 28 structures and features fill this 21-acre living history museum. Some of Pinellas County's most historic buildings, several dating to the mid- to late-1800s, have been moved to this setting in the pines and palmettos. Heritage Village includes a school, church, railroad depot, sponge warehouse, sugar mill and general store as well as a range of historic homes, including the McMullen-Coachman Log Cabin, the oldest existing structure in the county, and the Queen Anne-style House of Seven Gables.
Pinellas Passport traces the growth of the county through displays about agriculture, coastal living, community life and tourism. Admire the labor-saving devices for the "modern housewife" in Quick and Easy: Gadgets for the Home. In Pieces of the Past, living history demonstrations and hands-on activities include pine needle and palm frond weaving, laundry day, net mending and pioneer cooking. Take home a souvenir of your visit from the village gift shop.
School tours can experience hands-on pioneer life and the village offers summer activities programs for kids (for a fee). Through May, visitors can take a 55-minute guided tour for $2 per person (call ahead for groups over 20).
The village does not host weddings or receptions.
