Regardless of your roots, it's like going home, this place (the owners hail from somewhere close to the toe of the boot). Murals of Italy, faux brick paneling, wood trellising and abundant greenery make it feel familiar, nurturing, its strip mall location bolstering the vibe. It keeps going: most dinners come with a marinated appetizer, soup, green salad, a little cup of tangy three-bean salad, bread sticks and garlic bread. It's a mountain of food—sometimes out of nowhere your veal dish is accompanied by a tureen of spaghetti topped with a piquant, lovely tomato sauce. Close your eyes and start conjuring: veal parmigiana, linguini with clam sauce, manicotti, fettucini alfredo, ravioli, pizzas with puffy-chewy crust and a generous blanket of whole-milk mozzarella.
