The 3,000-square-foot Kiwanis Sprayground has a non-slip surface, no standing water and is ADA accessible. The fully automatic system offers a fun way to beat the heat as recirculating water sprays, gushs, dumps and pours from a variety of whimsical devices. Kids can dodge a crocodile that shoots water out of its mouth, circle the tumble buckets and dance in and out of the mushroom water shower. The main attraction is “Nessie,” Dunedin’s own version of the Loch Ness Monster, with multiple sprays and an aqua run slide.

Parental supervision is required. The deck perimeter has shade structures and spectator benches. Two pavillions can be reserved. The facility also has a lightning detection system with automatic water shut off and security cameras. The sprayground is open from 9 a.m. to sunset (or until 8 p.m. in the summer).

The facility is at the west end of Highlander Park, next to Highlander Pool, tennis court facilities, ball fields and Fisher playground. Get to it via Ed Eckert Drive off Michigan Boulevard.
