1 Legoland Way, Winter Haven, FL 33884
Categories: Theme parks
Admission: $75, $65 seniors and ages 3-12.
This interactive theme park is best for ages of 2 to 12. Built on the grounds of the old Cypress Gardens, it has more than 50 rides, shows and attractions. The low-key "pink knuckle" rides are made for that audience, but the real attraction is the masterpieces made from tiny snap-together bricks sprinkled throughout the park, from a replica of the White House to the Kennedy Space Center and Daytona Speedway. More than 50 million bricks were used to build the park, and many of the buildings not made of them look like they are.
At 150 acres, Legoland Florida is the largest Legoland park in the world and only the second in the United States. Attractions include Lego City, with a driving school, a boating school, the Flight School roller coaster and the rescue academy where families work together as a fire and rescue team. Land of Adventure has the Coastersaurus wooden coaster, Pharaoh's Revenge, a dark ride where guests fire foam balls at targets and each other, and Lost Kingdom Adventure, an Egyptian-themed dark ride where guests fire laser blasters.
The Imagination Zone has a build-and-test area where kids play with Lego toys, and three Kids Power Towers, where kids use ropes to "free fall' down.
There's a theater with 4-D movies; the Lego Technic Test Track Coaster, a water cannon fight on Lego jet skis; and Island in the Sky, a 100-foot-high platform with a 360-degree view over the park. There's also Duplo Village, for tiny tots ages 2 to 5, that includes a renovated, air-conditioned Duplo Barn indoor play area and a soft deck with water spouts for splashing. The main event is a train that youngsters can ride solo or with their parents through rural-themed scenery. There's also a space to "plow' cornfields aboard teeny tractors and hunt for missing farm animals.
Tickets are $75 for adults, $65 for kids.
